SRT to VTT, explained
SRT and VTT: almost the same file
SRT (SubRip) and VTT (WebVTT) are both plain-text subtitle formats with a start time, an end time and the text for each line. SRT came from desktop video players; WebVTT was made for the web and is the format HTML5 video uses. Going from one to the other is mostly a matter of small syntax changes:

How do I convert SRT to VTT?

What changes between SRT and VTT?
The file starts with a WEBVTT line, the comma in each timestamp becomes a period (00:00:01,000 becomes 00:00:01.000), and the subtitle numbers become optional. The text and timing stay the same.
Is the timing kept exactly?
Yes. Every start and end time is carried over to the millisecond.
Are italics and bold kept?
Yes. <i>, <b> and <u> tags work in both formats and are kept. SRT-only tags such as <font> and positioning codes like {\an8} are removed, because VTT players do not understand them.
Is it free? Is there a watermark?
